Backpack Bites for Kids
Each weekend during the school year, ICCS provides funding, food and additional resources to schools. These mechanisms assist children on the weekends so they may prepare meals on their own and return to school full and refreshed.
ICCS' Backpack Bites for Kids program targets schools in which 50% or more of the student body qualify for free or reduced lunch. We arrange for nutritious, non-perishable food items to be delivered to each school every week. The food is then packaged discreetly for the children to take home in their backpack each Friday.
Each bag includes nonperishable, easy to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner items. We make a concerted effort in partnership with school officials to provide fresh and nutritious healthy options that kids enjoy.
With the help of sponsors, donors and volunteers, Backpack Bites for Kids provided thousands of bags of food to children at schools throughout the state during the 2017-2018 school year. We greatly appreciate our donors and sponsors and welcome you to help us fund this critical program for the 2018-2019 school year.
