This month, our spotlight shines on the entire state! Our FY18 numbers are in and the highest we’ve ever served. ICCS reached over 5,000 youth in need throughout the fiscal year through all of our programmatic efforts. While we are proud of this Agency-wide record service it also showcases how important our work is. So many depend on our services and it’s our obligation to help thy neighbor and do right by innocent children. Religious values and political parties shouldn’t turn a blind eye to children who require a safe, supportive and dignity inspired environment in which to grow. It’s true, ICCS works with parents and caregivers to help assist with job creation and the formation and development of positive home life so these types of issues may be addressed. We also simultaneously ensure that children have what they need in order to participate in this healthy process. From Cairo to Kankakee, from eastern Illinois to the western part of the state (don’t forget, we’ve expanded our crisis counseling services!) ICCS is improving the lives of residents from every corner. This year, our crisis counselors saved lives. Our support staff mentored youth who had nowhere to turn, we created jobs, reduced violence and put hot meals into the bellies of children who otherwise, would go to bed hungry. Is our work meaningful? You bet. Is it complete? Never. We will continue to work hard and identify those in need so our spotlight can continue to shine on the success and deter from the dim ray of despair that still so many are accustom to.
